Burkert Type 8640 (SKU 20064208) is a modular valve island designed to solve diverse and complex control problems due to its systematic modular construction and combination of pneumatic and electrical interfaces. By putting together a row of pneumatic modules with different numbers of valves, 2 to 24 valve functionalities may be realized on one valve unit. Electrical connectivity is achieved by either fieldbus interfaces, common connection (parallel connection technique) or multipin interfaces. The bodies and connection modules are made of high-quality plastic (polyamide) and are easy to assemble by means of the built-in snap connectors.

Electrostatically Sensitive Components

The device contains electronic components that are susceptible to the effects of electrostatic discharging (ESD). Components that come into contact with electrostatically charged persons or objects are at risk. Meet the requirements specified by EN 61340-5-1 to minimise or avoid the possibility of damage caused by sudden electrostatic discharge.

AirLINE Quick Adapter

AirLINE Quick considerably reduces the use of components in the control cabinet. With the AirLINE Quick Adapter, the valve terminal is adapted directly to the control cabinet floor or control cabinet wall.

Advantages:

  • Reduced space requirement in the control cabinet
  • This makes it possible to use more compact control cabinets
  • Reduced installation effort due to hose connections directly at the bottom of the control cabinet

Installation

Valve Block Installation

Standard rail installation:

  1. Hook the valve block with the upper groove into the standard rail (35 x 15 or 35 x 7.5 EN 50022).
  2. Snap the lower clamping pieces into the standard rail.
  3. Tighten the screws on the clamping pieces.

Wall installation: Fasten the valve block directly to the wall with M4 screws.

Tightening Torques for Port Connections

Observe the following tightening torques when screwing into the port connections. The specified tightening torque may vary depending on the sealing system.

Our push-in connectors meet the requirements specified in the ISO 14743:2020 standard. Ensure that the appropriate combination of hose material (polyamide or polyurethane) and push-in connector is used, as different materials require different holding forces.

Electrical Installation of Cable Plugs

  1. Screw on the cable plug (see data sheet for approved types), observing the maximum tightening torque of 0.3 Nm.
  2. Check that the seal is correctly fitted.
  3. Connect the protective conductor and check electrical continuity between coil and housing.
