BURKERT 20070921 SVVI Base Unit 11mm for Valve Islands

Burkert SVVI (SKU: 20070921) is an 11 mm width per station working module and base unit designed for the assembly, conversion, and maintenance of pneumatic and electronic modules in valve islands. It is compatible with valve island types 8640, 8644, 8647, and 8650. The module features a D6 working port, FM20 flange, and integrated check valves in ports 3 (R) and 5 (S), along with Pneumatic HotSwap capabilities in port 1 (P).

Safety Warning

  • High Pressure: Secure actuators against shifting and switch off pressure before working on the modules. Vent or empty the lines.
  • Electric Shock: Switch off the power supply before working on the modules and secure against reactivation.

Electrostatically Sensitive Components

The modules contain electronic components susceptible to electrostatic discharge (ESD). Do not touch electronic components when the supply voltage is connected. Meet EN 61340-5-1 requirements.

System Overview

Pneumatic modules connected to each other with latch hooks are used for these valve island types. The latch hooks are always located on the right side of each pneumatic module.

Valve Island Type 8640

Type 8640 is designed for use in an industrial environment. The arrangement of pneumatic modules with varying numbers of valves makes it possible to realise up to 24 valve functions on 1 valve island. BURKERT 20070921 Burkert SVVI valve island type 8640

Valve Island Type 8644

Type 8644 is designed for distributed use in industrial environments. Electronics assemblies and armatures can be easily and efficiently combined due to the modular assembly. BURKERT 20070921 Burkert SVVI valve island type 8644

Valve Island Type 8647

Type 8647 is a modular, electro-pneumatic system consisting of connection units and valve units. It is intended for complete integration into the distributed Siemens I/O systems "SIMATIC ET 200SP" and "SIMATIC ET 200SP HA". BURKERT 20070921 Burkert SVVI valve island type 8647

Pneumatic Modules

Pneumatic Connection Modules

The valve block is pneumatically supplied and vented via the connection modules. In addition, the valve block is attached to the standard rail via the connection modules.

Pneumatic Base Module

The pneumatic base module is part of the valve unit. It supports the valves, is used for pneumatic supply and venting of the valves and provides the pneumatic working outputs. BURKERT 20070921 Burkert SVVI pneumatic base module with 4 slots

Electronic Base Modules

The electronic base module contains the electric plug connections for the valves, electronics assembly for controlling the valves, and visual status indicators.

  • Type 8640: Slots for 6, 8 or 12 valves. BURKERT 20070921 Burkert SVVI electronic base module type 8640
  • Type 8644: Slots for 2 or 8 valves. BURKERT 20070921 Burkert SVVI electronic base module type 8644
  • Type 8647: Slots for 4 or 8 valves. BURKERT 20070921 Burkert SVVI electronic base module type 8647

Solenoid Valves for Pneumatic Applications

Structure Rules

A valve block consists – when viewed from left to right – of a "left connection module", one or more valve units and a "right connection module". "Central connection modules" can be placed between valve units to guarantee mechanical fixation or sufficient supply of medium.

Pneumatics Disassembly and Installation

Disassembly of Connection Modules

Assembly aids: Slotted screwdriver, Cross-tip screwdriver.

  1. Carefully rotate the connection module fastening screw anticlockwise with a slotted screwdriver until it comes to a stop.
  2. Remove the valves from the valve unit on the right side by loosening the 2 fastening screws of each valve.
  3. Set the bottom locking element to the open position.
  4. Unlock the bottom latch hook by pushing the left connection module parallel to the standard rail. BURKERT 20070921 Burkert SVVI unlocking bottom latch hook
  5. Set the top locking element to the open position and unlock the top latch hook. BURKERT 20070921 Burkert SVVI unlocking top latch hook
  6. Tilt the connection module slightly upwards and loosen it from the standard rail. BURKERT 20070921 Burkert SVVI loosening connection module from standard rail

WARNING

Major effort required! Do not damage latch hook and electrical contacts!

Installing Valves

When reinstalling the valves on the valve unit, note that the flange seal must be inserted correctly into the valve. Tighten the fastening screws of the valves crosswise. BURKERT 20070921 Burkert SVVI install valve on valve unit

Installation Preparatory Work

Lightly grease the sealing rings of the pneumatic modules with installation oil (e.g., CENTOPLEX 2). BURKERT 20070921 Burkert SVVI pneumatic module sealing rings
