Burkert 323144 Type 2104 is an externally controlled T-diaphragm valve consisting of a pneumatically operated piston actuator, a diaphragm, and a T-valve body. The proven and robust actuator with a stainless steel housing ensures reliable use in hygienic or aggressive ambient conditions. The flow-efficient valve bodies with minimal dead space enable high flow rates and a wide range of possible uses. The actuator features a compact, autoclavable design with gap-free seals, and allows for the integration of ELEMENT automation units in all configuration levels.

Installation

Damage to the diaphragm or the actuator

The diaphragm and actuator can be damaged when welding the valve body into the pipeline. In the case of devices with a welded connection, remove the actuator and diaphragm from the valve body before installation.

Removing the actuator from the valve body:

  1. Clamp the valve body in a holding device.
  2. For valves with control function A: Pressurise pilot air port 1 with compressed air. This is required to detach the diaphragm without damage from the body.
  3. Loosen the body screws crosswise and remove the actuator and diaphragm from the valve body.

Installing the actuator on the valve body (CF A):

  1. Ensure the correct position of the compressor.
  2. Pressurise the pilot air port 1 with compressed air (valve opens).
  3. Place the actuator together with the diaphragm on the valve body.
  4. Slightly tighten the body screws crosswise. Actuate the valve twice to position the diaphragm correctly.
  5. Switch off the pilot pressure.
  6. Without applying pressure, tighten the body screws in three stages (approx. 1/3, then 2/3 and then full tightening torque) crosswise.

Explosion Protection (ATEX/IECEx)

Explosion hazard due to electrostatic charging!

If a statically charged device or person discharges suddenly, there is an explosion hazard in the potentially explosive area.

  • Take appropriate measures to ensure that no electrostatic charges can build up in the potentially explosive area.
  • Only clean the device surface by wiping it gently with a damp or antistatic cloth.
  • Earth the actuator and the valve body.
