BURKERT 20032523 8652 AirLINE Valve Island for Process Automation

Burkert Type 8652 AirLINE valve island optimized for process automation. Features up to 48 valve functions, PROFINET S2 redundancy, LC display diagnostics, and ATEX/IECEx Zone 2 protection.

BURKERT 20032523 8652 AirLINE Valve Island for Process Automation

Burkert Type 8652 AirLINE valve island has been especially developed for process automation requirements. New diagnostic functions can be visualised on the LC display, both in clear text as well as symbols. This makes it easy to relate to the shown messages and helps to save time during start-up and maintenance. Furthermore, the diagnostic message is also available at the controller, enabling a fast overview of the plant status. The hardware is optimised for installation at the bottom of the control cabinet, though installation on a standard rail is also possible. Key pneumatic functions ensure increased process reliability, such as check valves in the exhaust air ducts that prevent unplanned actuation due to pressure peaks.

Combinable Products

The Type 8652 can be combined with Type 2012, Type 8697, Type 8653, Type 8614, Type SV04, and the Fieldbus gateway Type ME43.

AirLINE Quick

AirLINE Quick considerably reduces the use of components in the control cabinet. With the AirLINE Quick Adapter, the valve terminal is adapted directly to the control cabinet floor or control cabinet wall.

Advantages

  • Reduced space requirement in the control cabinet
  • Makes it possible to use more compact control cabinets
  • Reduced installation effort due to hose connections directly at the bottom of the control cabinet

Circuit Functions

Circuit functionDescription
C (CF C)3/2-way solenoid valve, Servo-controlled, with manual override, Normally closed
C (CF C)2 × 3/2-way solenoid valve, Servo-controlled, with manual override, Normally closed
D (CF D)2 × 3/2-way solenoid valve, Servo-controlled, with manual override, Normally open
H (CF H)5/2-way solenoid valve, Servo-controlled, with manual override
L (CF L)5/3-way solenoid valve, With manual override, In middle position all ports locked
M (CF M)5/3-way solenoid valve, Servo-controlled, with manual override, In middle position ports 2 and 4 ventilated
N (CF N)5/3-way solenoid valve, With manual override, In middle position ports 2 and 4 exhausted
Z (CF Z)5/2-way solenoid valve, Impulse variant with 2 coils and manual override
SIA variant (for safety-related shut-off)

Type 6534 valves are equipped with additional connection terminals. A valve circuit can therefore be interrupted by an external switch. Manual override is not required for these valve variants. To use the shut-off function, connect the terminal to a potential-free contact (mechanical switch or relay).

Product Connections

Power supply for communication and displays Connect 5-pin spring-loaded terminal according to the pin assignment. Possible cable cross-section: ≤ 1.5 mm².

Power supply for pneumatic valves The interface plate has a 2-pin spring-loaded terminal to which the pneumatic valves’ power supply is connected.

Fieldbus interface CANopen requires 2 terminating resistors: one at the beginning of the network and one at the end. An indicator of the correct bus scheduling is the resistance between CAN_H and CAN_L when the power is switched off. This should be approx. 60 Ω.

Product Installation

To use the Hot Swap function, always observe a minimum distance to the front edge of the control cabinet when installing the valve island inside the control cabinet.

Product Design and Assembly

Electronic module with digital inputs (optional) The digital inputs are supplied (24 V) by the electronic module. Current is limited to maximum 30 mA per digital input. Standard 3-wire sensors and 2-wire sensors with voltages between 10…30 V as well as mechanical limit switches can be used.

Module-based safety shutdown (optional) Optional connections for module-based safety shutdown (Terminal 1 = valve unit 1, Terminal 2 = valve unit 2, ...). To use the switch-off function, connect the connection to a potential-free contact (mechanical switch or relay).

Explosion Protection Safety Instructions

Voltage and Electrostatic Hazards in EX Zones

  • Always disconnect power before working on the device or system in hazardous areas. Prevent it from being switched back on.
  • Terminals for 24 V supply, SIA, EVS, and digital inputs must only be connected or disconnected when power is off in an explosive atmosphere.
  • The Hot Swap function is strictly prohibited in explosive atmospheres unless it is proven by suitable test equipment that no explosive atmosphere is present for a certain period.
  • Take appropriate measures to prevent electrostatic charges in the potentially explosive area. Clean the device surface only by wiping gently with a damp or antistatic cloth.

General EX Installation Conditions

  • For explosion protection type "ec", install the device in an enclosure that meets the applicable requirements of EN/IEC 60079-0 and EN/IEC 60079-7 with a degree of protection of at least IP54.
  • For explosion protection type "tc" (dust), install the device in an enclosure that meets the applicable requirements of EN/IEC 60079-0 and EN/IEC 60079-31 with a degree of protection of at least IP6X.
  • Ensure that the set value for transient protection does not exceed 140% of the rated peak voltage at the device's power supply interface.
