BURKERT Type 2300 is a pneumatically operated 2-way angle seat control valve designed to fulfill tough criteria for process environments. In line with Bürkert’s philosophy for modular valves and sensors, it offers an excellent combination of good control characteristics and high flow rates. Unrivalled cycle life and sealing integrity are guaranteed by the proven self-adjusting packing gland. The parabolic trim results in a flow characteristic approximately 35% larger than conventional control valves. It is available in either stainless steel on stainless steel or with a durable PTFE seal for tight shut-off.

The design enables the easy integration of automation modules, whether they are digital electropneumatic positioners or process controllers. The fully integrated system has a compact and smooth design, integrated pneumatic lines, IP65/67 protection class, and superior chemical resistance. This system has been engineered for reliable, accurate control in applications where a high flow rate is an advantage.

The angle-seat control valve consists of a pneumatically operated piston actuator, a control cone, and a 2/2-way angle-seat valve body. The control cone is modularly connected to the actuator spindle via a spring-type straight pin, allowing for quick replacement.

Control Functions and Flow Direction

Depending on the variant, the valve is closed against the medium flow either with spring force (Control Function A, CFA) or pilot pressure (Control Function B or I, CFB or CFI). Because the medium pressure is below the control cone, it helps open the valve.

WARNING

Valve leak if there is too little minimum pilot pressure or high medium pressure! Minimum pilot pressure for CFB and CFI that is too low, or failing to meet the permitted medium pressure, can cause a leak in the valve seat. Adhere to minimum pilot pressure and do not exceed the medium pressure.

  • Control Function A (CFA): Pneumatically operated 2/2-way on/off valve. Flow direction below seat. Normally closed by spring force.
  • Control Function B (CFB): Pneumatically operated 2/2-way on/off valve. Flow direction below seat. Normally opened by spring force.
  • Control Function I (CFI): Actuating function via reciprocal pressurisation.

Explosion Protection (ATEX / IECEx)

For devices marked with PX51 (EPS 18 ATEX 2 008 X / IECEx EPS 18.0007 X), the valve actuator is suitable for use as a Category 2 device in Zones 1/21 and 2/22.

DANGER

Risk of explosion due to electrostatic charge! If statically charged devices or persons discharge suddenly, there is a risk of explosion in the potentially explosive area.

  • Take appropriate measures to ensure that no electrostatic charge can build up.
  • Only clean device surfaces by wiping gently with a damp or anti-static cloth.
  • Ground the actuator and the valve body.

Device Grounding:

  1. Ground the valve body to the pipeline system using a conductive connection to establish equipotential bonding.
  2. Exposed metal parts not integrated into the valve's equipotential bonding (PA) must be included in the PA by the customer via an additional PA connection.
  3. Ground conductive parts of the device separately using a grounding strap clip or grounding terminal.
