BURKERT 20092881 Type 8640 Modular Valve Island, 11 mm, 8x 5/2 Function H

BURKERT Type 8640 modular valve island (SKU 20092881) for pneumatics. Features 11mm width per station, 8x 5/2 valve function H, G 1/4 pressure port, and DIN-rail mounting.

BURKERT 20092881 Type 8640 Modular Valve Island, 11 mm, 8x 5/2 Function H

The BURKERT Type 8640 modular valve island system (SKU 20092881) is designed to solve diverse and complex control problems due to its systematic modular construction and combination of pneumatic and electrical interfaces. By putting together a row of pneumatic modules with different numbers of valves, 2 to 24 valve functionalities may be realized on one valve unit. Electrical connectivity is achieved by either fieldbus interfaces, common connection (parallel connection technique), or multipin interfaces. The bodies and connection modules are made of high-quality plastic (polyamide) and are easy to assemble by means of the built-in snap connectors.

BURKERT 20092881 Type 8640 modular valve island overview

This specific configuration features an 11 mm width per station, 8x 5/2 valve function H, G 1/4 pressure ports, and D6 working ports. It is designed for DIN-rail installation and utilizes single wiring without internal bus communication.

Key Features

  • Compact design: Space-saving footprint for control cabinets.
  • Modular configuration: Highly adaptable to specific application needs.
  • AirLINE Quick compatibility: Higher flexibility in the control cabinet, reducing installation effort due to hose connections directly at the bottom of the control cabinet.
  • Simple exchange of valves: With the "P-shut-off" option (Pneumatic HotSwap), valves can be exchanged even during operation.

Installation

BURKERT 20092881 Type 8640 valve block installation on standard rail

Standard rail installation:

  1. Hook the valve block with the upper groove into the standard rail (35 x 15 or 35 x 7.5 EN 50022).
  2. Snap the lower clamping pieces into the standard rail.
  3. Tighten the screws on the clamping pieces.

DANGER

Risk of injury due to high pressure and escaping medium. Switch off the pressure before working on the device or system. Vent or drain the pipes. Risk of injury due to electric shock. Switch off voltage before working on the device or system. Secure against reactivation.

NOTE

Pilot pressure for the pneumatic control unit depends on the pressure of the flow medium; it must be between 2 ... 10 bar (at least 70% of operating pressure). Pressure difference between port 1 and 3 must be at least 2 bar. When temperatures are below 0 °C, operation is restricted to dried air.
